Getting There
The Long House is just over one hour's drive from the centre of Galway City. The journey out into Connemara is very diverse, passing bogs, mountains, lakes, rivers and finally arriving at Roundstone and the sea.
If you're travelling from other regions of Ireland, or from abroad, you will find some transport information below.
By Air
Two local airports serve the Connemara region with a range of domestic, UK and European flights landing at Ireland West airport Knock (www.irelandwestairport.com) To the south Shannon International Airport (www.shannonairport.com) has daily flights from several US destinations and a range of flights to destinations across the UK and Europe. Shannon is an easier journey, 160 km away with an excellent dual carriageway stretching most of the way from Galway city to the airport. Dublin Airport is also a good option, with regular buses or trains to Galway.
Car Hire is available at all three airports as well as good bus links to Galway city.
By Ferry
A range of ferries sail to Ireland from the UK and France with services arriving in Dublin, Rosslare, Cork, Belfast and Larne. For information on routes and services visit www.discoverireland.ie.
By Train
The nearest train stations to Connemara are in Galway and Westport, both accessible from Dublin’s Heuston station. For more information on routes, timetables and fares visit Iarnród Éireann (www.irishrail.ie).
By Bus

Bus Éireann (www.buseireann.ie) is the main service provider, and Citylink (www.citylink.ie) operates services to Dublin, Shannon, Cork and Clifden.
